Jones and Associates Realty Inc. honored with State Philanthropy Award
Owner Carol Jones Accepts Award
Jones and Associates Realty Inc. has been honored with a state philanthropy award for its generous contributions to Virginia Highlands Community College.
Carol Jones, owner, accepted the Virginia Community College’s 2017 Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in Philanthropy on behalf of her company during a ceremony at the Country Club of Virginia on April 19. The award was presented by Chancellor Glen DuBois of Virginia’s Community Colleges, VHCC President Gene C. Couch Jr., and Dr. Joey Gilbert, vice president of Institutional Advancement at VHCC, during a ceremony at the Country Club of Virginia on April 18.
Hosted by the Virginia Foundation for Community College Education, the 12th annual event honored leading philanthropists from each of Virginia’s 23 community colleges and the statewide foundation.
“Virginia Highlands Community College is proud to recognize a true example of a local company that understands the importance of investing in education and our community,” said VHCC President Gene C. Couch Jr. “Carol Jones and Jones and Associates Realty has supported numerous initiatives through the years at Virginia Highlands Community College, and we are fortunate to have a strong partnership with this successful local business. We sincerely appreciate their investment of time, talent and financial support in working to fulfill the mission of Virginia Highlands Community College.”
An alumnae of VHCC, Jones is a long-time member of the VHCC Educational Foundation Board and a strong advocate for the College. She and her company have made significant investments in the programs and services of VHCC, while also providing valuable assistance with special events that support the mission of the College.
Across the Commonwealth, this year’s class of distinguished philanthropy leaders contributed a total of more than $10 million dollars to Virginia’s Community Colleges.
Keynote speaker John O. “Dubby” Wynne, chairman of GO Virginia and Reinvent Hampton Roads, said he was honored to be a part of the event and he emphasized the generous donations he and others have made are having a positive impact on the communities Virginia’s Community Colleges serve. “In many instances, your gifts are the difference between average or good and excellent in student performance,” he observed.
The VHCC Educational Foundation works closely with community members to guarantee financial assistance to all students who dream of attending college. For additional information about the Foundation or to make a tax-deductible gift, please contact Dr. Gilbert at (276) 739-2473 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
