VHCC Student Presents at Science Meeting

Post Date:08/14/2017 1:56 PM
VHCC Student Abby Wassum recently joined Professor Kevin Hamed at the annual meeting of the Northeast Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation to present a poster about her research on the four-toed salamander.

Abby was home schooled and finished her high school education at VHCC during the 2016-17 academic year. While enrolled in Dr. Hamed’s biology class, she asked to participate in the salamander research project, which is offered as an honor’s component of the course. With Dr. Hamed’s help, she prepared the poster and became the youngest student to present at the Aug. 10 meeting held at Mountain Lake Biological Station.

Abby is pursuing a degree in Science and hopes one day to teach or work for a wildlife agency.
