VHCC to Offer Trike & Motorcycle Courses this Spring
Two separate weekend courses that will focus on the safe operation of a three-wheeled trike and a traditional two-wheeled motorcycle will be offered this spring at Virginia Highlands Community College.
Beginning Trike/Sidecar will teach participants to safely operate a three-wheeled vehicle on the street and will focus specifically on effective braking, turning and obstacle avoidance, and other safe riding strategies. It is offered as a non-credit course Friday, March 23, through Sunday, March 25, on the VHCC campus.
Helmets and motorcycles are provided or students may use their own. The successful completion of the course results in M3 endorsement on a Virginia driver’s license. The cost of the course is $290.
Beginning Motorcycle Riding will meet Friday, April 6, through Sunday, April 8, and may possibly meet on Saturday, April 21. This two-credit phyisical education course will teach students to ride or to improve their riding skills. The cost for Virginia residents is $306.50.
Helmets and motorcycles are provided, and those who successfully complete the course could receive a reduction in their motorcycle insurance and will be exempt from the DMV riding test.
Both classes start on Friday at 5 p.m. and continue through the weekend. For additional information, please contact instructor Pat Hunter at (276) 739-2468 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
