Virginia Highlands Comic Con Set for April 21
Cosplayers and comic book enthusiasts are invited to Virginia Highlands Community College on Saturday, April 21, for a day-long convention featuring writers, illustrators, film makers, authors, vendors, and more.
The Virginia Highlands Comic Con will be held at various locations across campus from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free for everyone, but there may be a fee to participate in some activities. This family-friendly event is hosted by the VHCC Gaming Club and sponsored by G2K Games.
Among the guests slated to appear are Gary Kwapisz, an artist best known for his work on Marvel’s “Conan the Barbarian” and “The Punisher;” Jeremy Massie, illustrator for the comic series “Amazing Age;” 11-year-old Ian Justice, publisher and author of “The Boy Named Ash” series; and Bristol artist William Van Huss.
In addition to a spirited cosplay competition, activities include card games, an escape room sponsored by the VHCC Administration of Justice Department, a drone simulator and children’s activities. Games, comic books, toys and collectibles will be available for sale from vendors including Mountain Empire Comics, Voyeuristic FX and G2K Games.
Those interested in participating in the cosplay competition should review the Costume Props Policy prior to arriving. This policy, exhibitor information and additional details about the event are available online at www.vhcc.edu/comiccon.
