VHCC Now Accepting Applications for Practical Nursing Program
Applications are now being accepted for a new Practical Nursing program at Virginia Highlands Community College that can be completed in one year.
The deadline to apply is Monday, June 11.. New Student Orientation sessions will be held on campus on May 29 and June 15, and practical nursing classes will begin August 22. Students accepted to the program are encouraged to complete applicable general education courses during Summer Session 2018. Classes begin May 30 and July 5..
Already approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing, the program requires students to attend on a full-time basis during Fall Semester 2018, Spring Semester 2019, and Summer Term 2019. Those who complete the program will be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN exam, which provides the credentials needed to work as a licensed practical nurse (LPN).
Program approval from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) is pending.
Across Virginia, LPNs currently earn between $15 and $25 per hour. They work in doctors’ offices, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and other healthcare institutions, often under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Those interested in applying to the program, should begin by completing the VHCC Application at www.vhcc.edu/apply, complete the Practical Nursing Application and review the TEAS Testing Guidelines for Practical Nursing Applicants.
