This involves supervision of inmate movements; checking visitors and inmates for contraband; maintaining security at gates and entrances; reporting on inmate conduct and work performance; and supervising inmate work activities. Holds pill call, administers drugs, and maintains log of medications given. Qualifications- Working knowledge of principles and practices of professional nursing. Working skills in administering medications and providing treatment. Licensed or eligible for licensure as an RN by the VA Board of Nursing. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Some experience in providing general professional nursing. Corrections Nurse Technician - $28000-$41000. Provides direct care, treatment and related services for those inmates incarcerated in an adult institution. Conducts screening of inmates with health complaints, administers prescribed medications, initiates first aid measures, documents patient care, and assists physicians. Compiles and distributes medications for pill call in compliance with medical protocol and agency/institutional procedures to policy. Ensures good working conditions by inspecting and documenting emergency equipment and supplies. Qualifications-High School diploma or equivalent.
