Student Clubs & Organizations

Whether you are ready to become a member of the Law Enforcement Club or interested in launching a campaign for Student Government Association, VHCC is sure to have a club that will enhance your college experience. There are a lot of choices and your participation is an excellent way to make new friends and discover new talents that will last a lifetime.

Clubs allow students to participate in educational, social, and leadership opportunities.  Participation in clubs adds to the learning experience outside the traditional classroom setting. For more information on club participation, come by The Student Success Center in ISC 208 or call (276)739-2438.

How to start a Student Club or Organization

If you are interested in starting a student organization:

  • Submit an application which includes a statement of purpose, a list of officers, a signed statement by a current VHCC employee willing to serve as campus advisor, and a copy of the constitution and by-laws.
  • When an organization is affiliated with an external body, a copy of that body’s constitution and by-laws should also be submitted with the application. These documents are submitted to one of the division counselors.
  • The VHCC Student Advisory Committee makes a recommendation to the President regarding the establishment of the organization.
  • Organizations must agree to abide by all policies and regulations of VHCC and the State Board.

For more information on the rules and regulations of student activities and organizations see the Requirements for Student Activities in the VHCC Faculty & Staff Manual
