Preliminary Assignment (orientation and assessment) should be completed before beginning content assignments.

Complete the Startup and Orientation per instructions emailed by instructor.  If you have not received instructions for orientation and startup, double-check your VCCS email.  If you do not have the instruction, email the instructor and request them, mention that you did not receive the instructions through your VCCS email account and give the instructor the approximate date on which you registered for the course.

Distance Students:  For each assignment see the corresponding video lectures on your Chapter CD, as indicated by the section number on the link.

Note:  Since you will be using them repeatedly, you might wish to download the files q_a_lib1_070113.exe and query_lb1_070113.exe, which are the q_a_ and query programs for this course.  The files can be run from your Internet browser but unless you have a fast connection there will be a delay as they load. 

These programs create SEND files like the ones you have submitted for the Orientation.  The SEND files created by both programs contain in their filename the current date (e.g., 0214 for February 14).  The SEND files created by the q_a_ program also contain in their filename the name you give when prompted by the program to give your name.  Those created by the Query program do not contain your name. 

Copies of the SEND files are submitted using the Submit Work Form.

Weeks 1-2, Through Test #2 on Chapter 2

Week 01: Week of 06/02/08 -06/08/08.  Assignments 1, 2 and 3:     Run q_a_lib1_070113.exe assignments 1, 2 and 3 and submit using the Submit Work Form.     Text sections 2.1, 2.2, 2.3.   Work all problems numbered in multiples of 3 or 5 (i.e., 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 15, 18, ...; all these are multiples of 3 or of 5).  Run query_lb1_070113.exe and submit send&&&& file after each assignment using the Submit Work Form.

Week 02: Week of 06/09/08 -06/15/08.  Assignments 4, 5:     Run q_a_lib1_070113.exe assignments 4 and 5 and submit using the Submit Work Form.     Text sections 2.4, 2.5.  Work all problems numbered in multiples of 3 or 5.  Run query_lb1_070113.exe and submit send&&&& file after each assignment using the Submit Work Form.

You should take the test on a given Chapter at your earliest convenience after completing the Chapter.  Generally tests should be completed within a week of completing a Chapter.

Weeks 3-4, Through Test #2 on Chapter 1

Week 03: Week of 06/16/08 -06/22/08.    Assignments 6, 7, 8:    Run q_a_lib1_070113.exe assignments 6, 7 and 8 and submit using the Submit Work Form.     Text sections 1.1, 1.2, 1.3.   On Section work 1.1 #'s 1, 4, 5, 8, 12, 15, 20, 23, 26, 30, 33, 36, 40, 43, 46, 49, 52, 55, 57, 60.   On other sections work all problems numbered in multiples of 3 or 5.  Run query_lb1_070113.exe and submit send&&&& file after each assignment using the Submit Work Form.

Week 04:  Week of 06/23/08 -06/29/08.   Assignments 11, 12, 13 (note that there are no Assts 9 and 10):   Run q_a_lib1_070113.exe assignments 11, 12 and 13 and submit using the Submit Work Form.     Text sections 1.4, 3.1, 3.2.   Work all problems numbered in multiples of 3 or 5.  Run query_lb1_070113.exe and submit send&&&& file after each assignment using the Submit Work Form.

Week 06: Week of 07/07/08 -07/13/08.    Assignments 17, 18:   Run q_a_lib1_070113.exe assignments 17 and 18 and submit using the Submit Work Form.     Text sections 3.6, 4.1.    Work all problems numbered in multiples of 3 or 5.   Run query_lb1_070113.exe and submit send&&&& file after each assignment using the Submit Work Form.

Weeks 10, Through Test #6 on Chapter 7

Week 10: Week of 08/04/08 -08/08/08.    Assignments 28 and 29:     Run q_a_lib1_070113.exe assignments 28 and 29 and submit using the Submit Work Form.     Text sections 4.5, 5.1 and 5.2.  Text sections 7.1 and 7.2 (assignment 28) and 7.3 (assignment 29).     Work all problems numbered in multiples of 3 or 5.  Run query_lb1_070113.exe and submit send&&&& file after each assignment using the Submit Work Form.

You may if you choose also take the Final Exam, which is optional.
