Beginning Chinese I CHI 101-E20AN You will learn basic skills in standard Mandarin Chinese, including listening, speaking, reading and writing. While a brief introduction will be given to Chinese characters, the major emphasis is on learning to speak and comprehend Mandarin. Part I of II. Online course. Beginning Japanese I JPN 101-E20N This course is an introductory, skills-oriented course in Japanese. The primary goal is communicative fluency in a limited variety of situations in Japanese. You will learn greetings, self-introduction, describing things and people, describing and commenting on places and talking about daily routine. The class will require at least half an hour of listening/speaking out loud with a CD/sound files everyday, and 2-3 hours of total preparation will be required each week. You will develop a greater proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing Japanese while learning a limited context of vocabulary and structures. Through this course, you will be introduced to the Japanese culture. The class will require at least half an hour of listening/speaking out loud with a CD or sound file every day, and 2-3 hours of total preparation will be required each week. Elements of Astronomy NAS 130-E20L/NAS 130-ES1L You will be introduced to a survey of astronomy that includes a study of the physical nature of the universe, the solar system, stars, nebulae and galaxies.
