Parents, Children, and Divorce is a required four-hour interactive seminar for individuals contesting custody. Virginia Statue 20-103 took effect July 1, 2001. The seminar teaches the importance of protecting and enhancing children’s emotional development and informs parents of the legal process. • Instructor Pat Farmer has been a school counselor since 1989. Prior to working in the school system, she worked with Child Protective Services and as a Juvenile Probation Counselor. She holds a master’s degree in counseling from UVA.
