The Buechner Institute at King College is bringing one of its lectures to Abingdon. Emanuel Mandel is a Holocaust survivor. Born in 1936, he was a child in Budapest, Hungary, where his father was one of the four chief cantors in the community during the early years of World War II. His family was very lucky, being traded for trucks and supplies, allowing them to escape to Switzerland and then ultimately to the United States in 1949.
