Welcome to the Virginia Highlands Community College Library web site.  The primary mission of the VHCC Library and Instructional Support Division is to support the teaching, learning and research needs of the VHCC community.  Library facilities are located in the LRC Building at the Abingdon campus.  Library services are also open to the residents of the surrounding communities.  If you need assistance please contact any member of the Library staff.

New Resources for Students and Faculty

America: History and Life with Full Text - Complete bibliographic database to over 2,000 journals that cover the United States and Canada prehistory to the present. In addition to articles, this extensive database includes approximately 6,000 citations of book and media reviews, and citations of abstracts of dissertations published in the field. (EBSCOHost)

Historical Abstracts with Full Text - Index to the history of the world from 1450 to the present (for the United States and Canada see AMERICA: HISTORY AND LIFE). Over 2,000 journals published throughout the world are covered in the database, including key historical journals, and historical books and citations to abstracts of dissertations of interest for historical research. Nursing Reference Center - provides a user-friendly point-of-care resource intended for staff nurses, nurse administrators, nursing students, nurse faculty, and hospital librarians. It delivers the best available and most recent clinical evidence and knowledge on conditions and diseases via a nursing-specific graphical interface.

Connect for Success

Connect for Success is the Virginia Community College System information literacy tutorial. It is designed to teach basic information-seeking skills and to introduce students to the collections and materials in our libraries.
