Plans are currently being made for a Hot Shot competition in the fall that will test the shooting prowess of law enforcement officers throughout the region, and a special award will be given to the VHCC Alumni Hot Shot.

The David Mayfield Parade has joined the lineup of Nashville songwriters and local talents who will perform this Saturday at the Richard Leigh Songwriters’ Festival at Virginia Highlands Community College.

Graduating student Erika Cashwell and Leah Bolling Ross, a 1974 graduate who now serves as executive director of Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion and The Birthplace of Country Music Alliance, will serve as guest speakers for the 2013 Commencement Ceremony at Virginia Highlands Community College on Friday, May 10.

The VHCC Library is now offering three new trial databases. The trial offer is available until the end of May 2013 and can be accessed on and off campus.

Five of Nashville’s leading songwriters and up-and-coming talents from throughout the region will gather on the campus of Virginia Highlands Community College on Saturday, May 18, for the Richard Leigh Music Festival, a day-long celebration of song to benefit foster care students.
