A group of 27 Virginia Highlands Community College retires returned to campus Nov. 20 to have lunch with VHCC President Gene C. Couch Jr. and learn about a proposed Retiree Association.

Plants That Clean - The Horticulture Program Plant Sale will be held December 11-13, 2014 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. in the Treadwell-Jones Greenhouse on the VHCC campus. The Plants That Clean sale will have over 30 varieties of the top 50 plants rated by NASA for filtering out indoor air pollution. All proceeds benefit the VHCC Horticulture Program. The Plants That Clean has been organized by the Plant Propagation class at VHCC.

A groundbreaking partnership between Virginia Highlands Community College and Wytheville Community College soon will allow Smyth County residents to complete general education courses at a newly renovated facility in downtown Marion, town officials announced Thursday.

Koats for Kids is in need of warm clothing donations. VHCC has organized and made available the Koats for Kids closet for the past 18 years. The closet is open for those at VHCC who are in need of warm clothing during the winter months. Koats for Kids is accepting warm clothing in children to adult sizes. Please check your closets for any jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, gloves, mittens, etc. that you no longer need. The Koats for Kids closet is made possible from the donations from faculty, staff and students. Please help us keep the closet filled this winter.

The VHCC Student Veterans Association is planning a Veterans Day display on the large window panes behind the piano in the Wolves’ Den, and would like for you to share the stories of the great heroes that are remembered every Veteran’s Day in your heart.
