The VHCC Color X-treme 5K Fun Run is our own version of the popular color runs being held throughout the country. By the end of Color X-treme you will look like a box of crayons exploded on you. As participants make their way through our cross country course they’ll pass through multiple color stations where volunteers will throw colored powder onto the runners. This fun run welcomes all ages and abilities. While it will be timed for those looking for the competition, participants are welcome to proceed through the course at their own comfortable pace.

The Horticulture Club at Virginia Highlands Community College is sponsoring a plant sale featuring a variety of heirloom flowers and vegetable transplants that are appropriate for late summer and early fall planting. The sale will be held Monday through Friday, August 3-8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Treadwell-Jones Greenhouse on the VHCC campus.

VHCC Teacher Symposium to Focus on the Mindful Educator
Registration is continuing and space is still available for “The Mindful Educator,” Virginia Highlands Community College’s 4th Annual Summer Teacher Symposium. Public school teachers from the City of Bristol Virginia, Washington County and western Smyth County are invited to attend the event on Tuesday, July 21. Dr. Louise Billaud, an associate professor of Music at New River Community College, and Dr. Alan Forrest, professor of Counselor Education at Radford University, will serve as keynote speakers. Those who attend will receive half of a continuing education unit.
