Abingdon Civitan Club Memorial Scholarship
$500 to be used for educational expenses for graduating high school senior from Abingdon, Holston, John S. Battle or Patrick Henry High School. Criteria: Good citizenship, active involvement in extra-curricular activities; B average; demonstrated leadership. 

John and Flora Anderson Scholarship
Income earned on endowment for tuition for high school graduate from VHCC service region. Criteria: Upper one-third ranking in class; good work and study habits; good character; realistic career goals; financial need.

Alpha Natural Resources Scholarship
$1,000 to be used for educational expenses for graduating high school senior from Abingdon, Chilhowie, Holston, John S. Battle, Northwood, Patrick Henry, or Virginia High School. Criteria: First Year, Full-time student; 3.4 GPA or top ten percent of their high school graduating class. Each high school and technical school in the VHCC service region will be awarded an Alpha Natural Resources Scholarship (10 total awards, $10,000).

Edith Anderson Combs Memorial Scholarship
Income earned on endowment for tuition for high school graduate from VHCC service region. Criteria: Female student; B average; involvement in farming/community activities (4-H, FHA, etc.); full-time student at VHCC. Preference given to young woman considering farm-related curriculum, Business Technology curriculum, or Engineering/Industrial Technology curriculum.

CAMAC/Universal Fiber Systems Scholarship
Up to $2000 per year for two years for tuition and books. Criteria: Legal dependent of CAMAC associate; associate employed at CAMAC for minimum of one year; high school graduate or GED recipient. Note: applicant must submit Universal Fiber Systems/CAMAC Scholarship Application Form.

James M. Cole VCCS Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship
Up to $3,000 to cover a full year of tuition, books, and fees. Criteria: Incoming freshman; selections based on merit; must demonstrate academic excellence during high school, a willingness to promote community college education and the Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship Program, and a commitment to developing leadership potential; must be a full-time student seeking to graduate with an associate’s degree from VHCC.

Dr. J. S. Henderson Memorial Scholarship
$500 for educational expenses. Criteria: Student must be interested in studying in the field of chiropractic and, upon completion of undergraduate training, will matriculate to the Palmer College of Chiropractic. 

Roger G. Ligon Memorial Scholarship

Income earned on endowment for educational expenses. Criteria: Incoming freshman or returning Ligon Scholar; 3.5 GPA; preference given to student with journalism or business interest and experience. Award renewable for second year if 3.0 GPA is maintained.

VHCC Foundation President’s Scholar Award 

$500 up to the full cost of tuition and books (amount TBA). Criteria: Graduating senior recommended by high school or technical school principal; 3.4 GPA; full-time student. Each high school and technical school in the VHCC service region will be awarded an Alpha Natural Resources Scholarship (10 total awards). Principal shall nominate one candidate from their school.

P. T. Preston Memorial Scholarship
Income earned on endowment for tuition. Criteria: 3.0 GPA; full-time student; all other factors being equal, preference given to a student of the Presbyterian denomination who has financial need.

Julia Sales Memorial Scholarship
$500 for educational expenses. Criteria: Recipient must be an African-American student within VHCC service region; incoming freshman; full-time student; 2.5 GPA.

Mary H. Spangler Memorial Scholarship
Income earned on endowment for tuition to graduating senior from John S. Battle High School. Criteria: 3.0 GPA for last three years of high school; strong work ethic/involvement in extracurricular activities; positive citizenship; dedication to John Battle High School; committed to earning a degree.

Addie I. Sproles Memorial Scholarship
Income earned from endowment to be used for educational expenses for graduating high school senior from Abingdon, Holston, John S. Battle or Patrick Henry High School. Criteria: 3.0 GPA; exhibition of love and dedication to the community.

James W. “Chub” Young Memorial Scholarship
Income earned from endowment to be used for tuition and textbooks. Preference for student who is an employee or family member of an employee of Shoney’s. Criteria: C average; eligible for in-state tuition; financial need. Award renewable for second year if 2.0 GPA maintained.

Family Fraternity Moose Scholarship
Up to $5,000 for a service-oriented resident of Washington County attending VHCC full time who has exhibited academic promise and has financial need. There will be one recipient from each of the four high schools in Washington County (Holston, John Battle, Abingdon, And Patrick Henry). Must have 3.0 GPA from high school.
