Applications open from March 1 - May 1, 2017. 

VHCC students will receive an email when the scholarship application is available online. One application allows the student to be considered for all of the scholarships available through the Educational Foundation.

Abingdon Civitan Club Memorial Scholarship (freshman)
$700 to be used for educational expenses for graduating high school senior from Abingdon, Holston, John S. Battle or Patrick Henry High School. Criteria: Good citizenship, active involvement in extracurricular activities; B average; demonstrated leadership.

Abingdon Rotary Club Scholarship (freshman or sophomore)
$1,500 scholarship. Criteria: Must have 3.0 GPA, provide proof of service oriented volunteer work, involvement in Rotaract.

Academic Excellence Scholarship for Technical Students (sophomore)
$1,000 scholarship. Criteria: Must have 3.5 GPA, enrolled in Science & Engineering curriculum, recommended by faculty member.

Alliance for Manufacturing Scholarship (sophomore)
$500 scholarship. Criteria: Enrolled in HVAC program, minimum 2.5 in all courses, have financial need.

Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship (freshman or sophomore)
$300 scholarship. Criteria: Must have at least a 2.5 GPA and planning to pursue a degree in Education. Recipient should attend one of Alpha Psi Chapter’s meetings.

Anderson, John and Flora Scholarship (freshman)
Income earned on endowment for tuition for high school graduate from VHCC service region. Criteria: Upper one-third ranking in class; good work and study habits; good character; realistic career goals; financial need.

Auxiliary to Johnston Memorial Hospital (sophomore)
$3,000 scholarship.  Criteria: Enrolled in nursing or health care field and high GPA. Selected by Auxiliary to JMH.

Brown, Beatrice Sproles Latture Memorial Scholarship (freshman or sophomore)
Income earned on endowment for educational expenses. Criteria: Enrolled in nursing program.

Bush, Frank Memorial Scholarship (sophomore)
$500 scholarship. Criteria: Must be in good standing academically, enrolled in accounting curriculum and have financial need.

Combs, Edith Anderson Memorial Scholarship (freshman)
Income earned on endowment for tuition for high school graduate from VHCC service region. Criteria: Female student; B average; involvement in farming/community activities (4-H, FHA, etc.); fulltime student at VHCC. Preference given to young woman considering farm-related curriculum, Business Technology curriculum, or
Engineering/Industrial Technology curriculum.

CAMAC/Universal Fiber Systems Scholarship (freshman or sophomore)
Up to $2000 per year for two years for tuition and books. Criteria: Legal dependent of CAMAC associate; associate employed at CAMAC for minimum of one year; high school graduate or GED recipient. Note: applicant must submit Universal Fiber Systems/CAMAC Scholarship Application Form.

Farnham, Floyd Royce Scholarship (VHCC graduate transferring)
$500 scholarship. Criteria: Must be transferring to earn Bachelor’s Degree in S & E curriculum, after graduation from VHCC.

Fleenor, Francis Scholarship (freshman)
$ 500 for educational expenses. Criteria: Student must be a graduating senior from Holston High School and have financial need.

First Bank of Virginia Scholarship (freshman)
$1,000 for educational expenses. Criteria: Freshman who is an Abingdon resident with a minimum GPA of 3.0. and involved in extracurricular organization promoting good citizenship and community service.

First Community Bank Scholarship (sophomore)
$1,000 Scholarship. Awarded to a 2nd year student from the VHCC service region majoring in a college transfer program, enrolled full-time with a GPA of 3.0 or higher! Preference given to a nontraditional student. Student must demonstrate a history of good citizenship and community service!

Food Country USA Scholarship (sophomore)
$1,000 scholarship. Criteria: Must have 3.0 GPA, enrolled in Business Administration/ Management or Accounting curriculum, recommended by faculty member. 

Hale, C.B. Memorial Nursing Scholarship (sophomore)
$1,000 Scholarship. Awarded to a Nursing student from the VHCC service region with financial need. Preference given to a nontraditional 2nd year student and recommended by a nursing faculty member.

Henderson, Dr. J. S. Memorial Scholarship (freshman or sophomore)
$500 for educational expenses. Criteria: Student must be interested in studying in the field of chiropractic and, upon completion of undergraduate training, will matriculate to the Palmer College of Chiropractic.

Hyatt, Sidney Louis Scholarship (sophomore)
Income earned on endowment for educational expenses. Criteria: Must have 3.0 GPA, accepted into the Nursing Program. Recommended by faculty member.

Johnson, Delegate Joe Scholarship (freshman)
$500 scholarship. Awarded to an incoming freshman from Washington County, VA with demonstrated financial need (preference given to a Pell recipient). Applicant must demonstrate a love and dedication to the community!

Leigh, Richard Scholarship (sophomore) 
$500 scholarship. Awarded to a 2nd year student in the Great Expectations Program. Student receiving this award must be endorsed by the Great Expectations Coach and must be actively involved in the program!

Ligon, Roger G. Memorial Scholarship (freshman or sophomore)
Income earned on endowment for educational expenses. Criteria: Incoming freshman or returning Ligon Scholar; 3.5 GPA; preference given to student with journalism or business interest and experience.Award renewable for second year if 3.0 GPA is maintained. 

May, Becky Memorial Scholarship (sophomore)
$1,000 scholarship. This scholarship was recently established in memory of Becky May to provide financial assistance to a worthy second year student who has an interest in pediatric nursing. Must have 3.0 GPA and be recommended by faculty.

Moore, James D. Scholarship (sophomore)
Income earned on endowment for educational expenses. Criteria: Must have 3.0 GPA, accepted into the Nursing Program. Recommended by faculty member.

Preston, P. T. Memorial Scholarship (freshman)
Income earned on endowment for tuition. Criteria: 3.0 GPA; full-time student; all other factors being equal, preference given to a student of the Presbyterian denomination who has financial need.

Proffitt, Dr. Ron Scholarship (sophomore)
$1,000 scholarship. This scholarship is to be awarded to a 2nd year Radiography Student at VHCC. Must promote good citizenship, community service and have financial need. Student receiving this award must be endorsed by the Program Director of Radiography at VHCC.

Rainero, Doshia Scholarship (sophomore)
$500 scholarship. Criteria: Must be in good standing academically and involved in extracurricular organization promoting good citizenship and community service.

Sales, Julia Memorial Scholarship (freshman)
$500 for educational expenses. Criteria: Recipient must be an African-American student within VHCC service region; incoming freshman; full-time student; 2.5 GPA.

Sebo, John and Rose Ann Endowed Scholarship (freshman or sophomore)
Income earned on endowment for educational expenses. Criteria: Must have at least a 2.5 GPA and planning to pursue a degree in Nursing. Recipient should be from one of these counties in Virginia: Washington, Smyth, Russell, Tazewell, Buchanan, Dickenson, Wise and Lee.

Spangler, Mary H. Memorial Scholarship (freshman)
Income earned on endowment for tuition to graduating senior from John S. Battle High School. Criteria: 3.0 GPA for last three years of high school; strong work ethic/involvement in extracurricular activities; positive citizenship; dedication to John Battle High School; committed to earning a degree.

Sproles, Addie I. Memorial Scholarship (freshman)
Income earned from endowment to be used for educational expenses for graduating high school senior from Abingdon, Holston, John S. Battle or Patrick Henry High School. Criteria: 3.0 GPA; exhibition of love and dedication to the community. 

Street, Dr. James A. Rotary Scholarship (freshman or sophomore)
$2,500 scholarship. Criteria: Full time student who resides in the cities of Bristol, VA, or Bristol, TN, or Washington Co., VA, or Sullivan Co., TN and must have financial need. Scholarship provided by the Rotary Club of Bristol, VA-TN.

Student Government Association Student Leader Scholarship (sophomore)
$500 scholarship to a student leader active within VHCC clubs/ organizations (club advisor must provide recommendation of club participation and leadership). Minimum 3.0 GPA, attend VHCC as fulltime student.

Tuell, John Scholarship (freshman or sophomore)
Income earned on endowment for educational expenses. Criteria: Enrolled full time with good academic standing.

TruPoint Bank Scholarship (freshman)
$1,000 scholarship. Criteria: TruPoint Bank service region, minimum GPA of 3.0, involved in extracurricular organization promoting good citizenship and community service.

VCCS Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship (freshman)
Up to $3,000 to cover a full year of tuition, books, and fees. Criteria: Incoming freshman; selections based on merit; must demonstrate academic excellence during high school, a willingness to promote community college education and the Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship Program, and a commitment to developing leadership
potential; must be a full-time student seeking to graduate with an associate’s degree from VHCC.

VHCC Foundation President’s Scholar Award (freshman)
$1,000 scholarship. Criteria: Graduating senior recommended by high school or technical school principal; 3.4 GPA; full-time student. Each high school and technical school in the VHCC service region will be awarded a Presidential Scholarship. Principal shall nominate one candidate from their school.

Washington County Master Gardener Association Scholarship (sophomore)
$1,000 scholarship. Criteria: Enrolled in Horticulture program, minimum GPA of 3.0, involved in extracurricular organization promoting good citizenship and community service in the field of horticulture.

Washington County Moose Family Center #1966 Scholarship (freshman)
Up to $3,000 for a service-oriented resident of Washington County attending VHCC full time who has exhibited academic promise and has financial need. There will be one recipient from each of the four high schools in Washington County (Holston, John Battle, Abingdon, and Patrick Henry). Must have 3.0 GPA from high school.

Wilkin, Dr. F. David Scholarship (freshman or sophomore)
$500 scholarship. Criteria: Enrolled in engineering or other technical program with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Young, James W. “Chub” Memorial Scholarship (freshman)
Income earned from endowment to be used for tuition and textbooks. Preference for student who is an employee or family member of an employee of Shoney’s. Criteria: C average; eligible for in-state tuition; financial need. Award renewable for second year if 2.0 GPA maintained.
