Join the Friends of the Washington County Library in meeting Henry Wiencek, a history professor at the University of Virginia, who has written a controversial new work: Master of the Mountain: Thomas Jefferson and His Slaves. According to this new book, Jefferson was not the reluctant slaveowner that historians have so often portrayed him, but a willing participant who allowed the profits from slavery to rescue the Jeffersons countless times from near financial disaster.
