Parking Lot Renovation Project
Posted Date: 9/7/2012
The VHCC Campus will begin embarking on a number of changes to the Opportunity Lane Entrance to the campus, Parking Lot 5 and Parking Lot 4 behind the LRC Building. There will also be stairs constructed down to the Greenhouse Facility and additional lighting in the renovated parking lots. This parking lot renovation will yield a total of 232 parking spaces and 7 handicap accessible space as well as new sidewalks from each of the lots and a new “round-about” entrance from Opportunity Lane into our campus. The renovation will generate an additional 60 spaces in Parking Lot 5.

Initial work will begin on Monday September 10. You will notice Baker Construction on campus blocking off the construction zone and demolition will begin shortly after. Opportunity Lane will be blocked off at the entrance to Lot 7 on campus beginning September 17th. There will be detour signs that will allow traffic to flow from Lot 7 into Lot 5 and into Lot 4. Traffic will be 2-way in all of these lots during the first stages of construction. We will have Campus Police assisting with parking and traffic control.

The project is expected to last approximately 60 days with construction taking place Monday through Saturday of each week. This project will generate noise and dust, but Baker Construction and VHCC will do everything possible to minimize any disruptions to the campus. You will receive frequent emails informing you of what work has been accomplished and what work will be upcoming on the project.

This is an exciting time for the future of our campus and the College. The ultimate goal is to provide better and additional parking and better traffic flow onto our Campus through the Opportunity Lane entrance. Thank you in advance for your patience as we undertake this significant parking improvement to the campus.
