Exceptional service to active duty military personnel, veterans, and their family members has earned Virginia Highlands Community College recognition as a “Military Friendly School” by G.I. Jobs Magazine.
The magazine compiled a list of the top 1,739 colleges, universities and trade schools throughout the nation based on their military friendly policies and programs. The list was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 schools nationwide.
“We’re excited to be included on this list because it recognizes the high level of service we provide to our students with military service,” said VHCC Veterans Officer Deborah Barrett. “We’re proud of their service to our country, and we’re committed to assisting them as members of our campus community. “
A vital part of the Admissions Department, the VHCC Veterans Office focuses on recruitment and retention efforts by providing academic credit to students with military experience, offering flexible learning programs, and assisting students in receiving GI Bill benefits for tuition and related expenses. These efforts, coupled with outreach services, create a welcoming and engaging environment for military and veteran students.
