Drop! Cover! Hold On!

At 10:18 a.m. on October 18, 2012, millions of Southeasterners will “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” in
The Great Southeast Shakeout, the region’s largest earthquake drill ever! Virginia Highlands will be conducting a short earthquake drill approximately 10:18 a.m. on 10/18/2012. Please review the Recommended Earthquiake Safety Actions flyer with useful information regarding major earthquakes and how they may happen anywhere you work, live, or travel in the Southeast. The Shakeout is our chance to practice how to protect ourselves, and for everyone to become prepared. The goal is to prevent a major earthquake from becoming a catastrophe for you, your organization, and your community.

We will be using VHCC Alert during this time to test the emergency alert system.  If you would like to register for the VHCC Alert system please register your devices online at alert.vhcc.edu

VHCC Alert is a free service offered by Virginia Highlands Community College. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to a text or email alert sent by VHCC or email webmaster@vhcc.edu.  Your wireless carrier may charge you a fee to receive messages on your wireless device. VHCC will test the alert system each semester.
