Community members are invited to purchase vegetables, flowers, and herbs during a Virginia Highlands Community College plant sale sponsored by the Horticulture Department on Saturday, May 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The sale will be held at the Treadwell-Jones Greenhouse on the VHCC campus.
Featured plants include heirloom and hybrid varieties of tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, squash, melons and okra; annual flowers and bedding plants including blue daisies, cosmos, phlox, petunias, marigolds, zinnias, nasturtiums, and dahlias; perennial flowers including blanket flowers, daisies, irises, and begonias; tropical house plants including limes and pineapples; and dill, lavender, sage, basil and rosemary in the herb category.
All plants were propagated by VHCC horticulture students and faculty members, and proceeds from the sale will benefit the program and future greenhouse projects.
