VHCC Electrical Technology Program Offering Evening Classes
Posted Date: 5/5/2014

Community members interested in earning an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Technology at Virginia Highlands Community College will have the option this fall of completing core requirements through day or evening classes, then choosing specialized courses to fit their specific career goals.

Assistant Professor Joe Mitchell said the programs have been revamped and new evening offerings added to allow busy adults to prepare for in-demand jobs in the electrical, electromechanical and renewable energy fields.

Students may choose between:

  • Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electrical Technology
  • Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electrical Technology – Specialization in Electromechanical Technology
  • Associate of Applied Science Degree in Electrical Technology – Specialization in Energy Technology

Each of the degree programs take about two years to complete. An advisor will work closely with students to help to help them choose the programs and classes that best meet their career goals.

VHCC also offers shorter-term certificate programs in Electricity and Solar Energy that take about one-year to complete. All course work in the certificate programs may be applied toward the Associate Degree programs.
New students are currently being accepted. Please contact Mitchell at jmitchell@vhcc.edu for specific program information. Fall Semester classes begin August 25.
