Library & Testing Center Assistant

Part- time hourly position scheduled to work approximately 20-28 hours per week with no fringe benefits. Pay range is $14.00 to $16.34 per hour, depending upon qualifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides late afternoon, evening and weekend staffing for the Library and Testing Center. Answers the Circulation Desk telephone and the main college telephone number when on call. Responds to library questions and general college inquiries. Checks in, checks out, and shelves materials. Makes VHCC Identification Cards for students and college personnel. Makes Library Cards for public users. Assists students and other Library patrons in accessing and using Library resources in both electronic and print formats. Assists students using computerized testing including but not limited to those in BlackBoard, MyIT Lab and MyMath Lab. Assists with scheduling and administering placement, standardized, credit-by-exam, certification, makeup and general classroom testing and test-scoring services. Schedules delivery of AV equipment. Assists with scheduling, training and supervising work/study students. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to work afternoon, weekend, and evening hours required. Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree required. Computer experience, including word processing required. Ability to work a flexible schedule preferred. Library/Testing experience and/or training preferred. Community college experience preferred.
