Musician/songwriter Mary Munsey plays saxophone, guitar and keyboard. She is best known for singing with her variety group, Tennessee Green. She also plays for the rockabilly/jazz group Barlow Gin. As a hobby, she has written and performed folk music for many years and has formed an acoustic duo named Rosewood Emerald that currently performs her originals. She has been honored with several awards for her songwriting. She is currently the choir director, guitar instructor, music appreciation instructor and director of the Old Time String Band at Virginia Highlands Community College in Abingdon, VA.
Mary has recorded three cd's and won five songwriting awards which include; first place in the Woody Guthrie International Songwriting Competition 2010, third place in the Woody Guthrie Contest 2012, second place in the Podunk Bluegrass competition East Hartford CT 2011, third place in the ETSU CASS competiion 1996 and second place in the Wisconsin Songwriting competition 2012.
