5K Walk to Foster Hope

In Virginia, more than 5,000 children are currently in the foster care system. Please join us as we walk 5K to raise awareness about foster care and adoption. The event is free and is open to the public. Registration is not required but is encouraged. The first 200 people to register will receive a t-shirt at the event.

Prizes 1st Place: $500 | 2nd Place: $250 | 3rd Prize: $100
The song writing contest is open to anyone who writes original music and who is not currently signed to a recording or publishing contract. Contestants are judged on the quality of the song's composition.
Signature on entry form constitutes each song submitted is an original work and releases the Virginia Highlands Community College Foundation, Virginia Highlands Community College and the Richard Leigh Songwriters Festival from all liability. Entry also constitutes permission to use the winner's name and likeness for future advertising and publicity without further permission or compensation. All performances will be held indoors at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center.
Food venders will be available throughout the day and a beer/wine bar will be provided by the Abingdon Rotary Club.
