Practical Nursing Instructor Joins VHCC
Alicia Roberts, a registered nurse (RN) with extensive patient care and teaching experience, has joined Virginia Highlands Community College as instructor of the college’s new one-year Practical Nursing program.
Roberts is a graduate of the Smyth Career & Technology Center (SCTC) practical nursing program and the associate degree nursing program at Wytheville Community College. She also holds a bachelor’s degree from King University and a master’s degree from Walden University. She worked in the intensive care unit and emergency department at Bristol Regional Medical Center for five years, then taught practical nursing courses at SCTC before accepting her current position at VHCC.

Graduates will be awarded a Cereer Studies Certificate and will be eligible to take the licensure exam needed to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The program’s first students are beginning classes this fall, and the next cohort will be admitted in Summer 2019.
