James F. "Jamey" Rector, Jr.

Jamey Rector


Jamey earned an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Drafting and Design from VHCC in 1994 and also holds a bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University.


He began his career at Dana Corp. in Bristol, where he served as a team leader, quality technician and purchasing agent. He later taught Drafting and Design at VHCC as an adjunct instructor and now oversees marketing for Bristol Virginia Utilities.

Personal Life:

Jamey currently serves on the VHCC Board and is a past member of the VHCC Educational Foundation Board. He was previously a member of the Bristol Rotary Club and currently serves as a member of Celebrate Bristol and the board for Communities in the Schools of Southwest Virginia. In his spare time, Jamey enjoys collecting antique cars and is past president and a current board member of the Antique Automobile Club of America. He and his wife. Lauren Griffin Rector, own a real estate firm in Bristol, which he enjoys helping her with in the evenings and on weekends. .
