Virginia Highlands Community College is a partner of the Virginia Appalachian Tricollege Nursing Program (VATNP), an associate’s degree program that prepares graduates for the National Council Licensure Examination Nurse (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as an entry level registered nurse (RN). The full-time program can be completed in just two years, but a part-time evening and weekend program is also available for those whose busy schedules prevent them from attending full time. VHCC also offers an LPN-to-RN Program on both a full-time and part-time basis.
This program combines classroom and lab activities with more than 500 hours of hands-on clinical instruction that prepares the graduate to deliver quality patient care. Graduates are in high demand by our region’s major healthcare systems and earn an average starting salary of $38,000. Many of our graduates have continued their education, earning advanced degrees that lead to even greater earning potential.
