Steps to Become a Nurse Aide
We’re excited you’re considering a career as a nurse aide! If you enjoy working with people, are compassionate and love to help others, you’ll find this to be a rewarding career.

The steps to get started are very easy.

  1. Meet with an Advisor.
Because there are two different paths for becoming a nurse aide, it is best for us to sit down with you, one-on-one, to better understand your goals. With this information, we’ll be able to suggest the best path for you.

    Walk-in to Meet
Our Campus Connection Center (located in the ISC Building on the VHCC Campus) is open Monday-Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. You are welcome to stop in at your convenience!

    Schedule an Appointment
Would you like to schedule an appointment to meet with Rachel Law, an academic advisor who also serves as our nurse-ready coach? Email Rachel at or reach her by phone by calling 276-739-2485.

  2. Apply to Virginia Highlands Once you determine the best path forward, we will help you apply for admission.
