Keyser-Aday Theater
February 11th | 3pm
Lynne Mackey, pianist, combines masterful technique with extraordinary expressiveness to bring a wide range of classical music to audiences. Most recently, she performed in Paris as artist-in-residence for 4 months at the Cité Internationale des Arts. She holds performance degrees from the Eastman School of Music (DMA), The Juilliard School (MM) and the University of Michigan (BM). Highlights of her career include performances at Weill Recital Hall in New York City, the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada, and overseas in Brazil, Spain, Morocco and the Netherlands. In addition to performing, Lynne is Director of the Virginia Baroque Performance Academy, which is part of the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival.
The concert program "The Romantic Spirit," explores the variety of style, expression, and diversity of Romantic composers from several countries. The music ranges from the shorter, delightful "Poetic Waltzes" of Enrique Granados, character pieces of Brahms, and concert etude of Franz Liszt, to the powerful preludes of Sergei Rachmaninoff and the G minor Ballade of Frédéric Chopin.
