Bristol Virginia Promise Scholarship
Virginia Highlands Community College and the Virginia Highlands Community College Educational Foundation are proud to offer this Promise Program, made possible by a gift from the Anne & Gene Worrell Foundation. This amazing pledge of educational support is specially intended for recent high school graduates who live in the City of Bristol, VA – helping them to attend college and achieve their post-high school dreams.
Overview
- Serves recent high school graduates (public, private, and homeschool) in the City of Bristol, VA. The Program will begin with the graduating Class of 2026 (with a commitment to also serve the Classes of 2027 and 2028).
- Scholarship covers five (5) consecutive semesters after spring high school graduation (including the summer semester immediately following graduation). Students must begin no later than the Fall semester immediately following their graduation.
- Students can enroll in degree/transfer or workforce training programs.
- The credit minimum is 6 credits per semester. There is no credit maximum outside of VHCC’s institutional maximum credit guidelines. Courses must be aligned with a program of study or credential attainment plan.
- There are no high school GPA requirements to be considered for the program. To continue to be eligible for funding for the second year, students must have a 2.0 GPA.
- Students must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident; public school, private school, and homeschool students must be residents of the City of Bristol, VA for at least 12 months prior to high school graduation.
- Students are required to complete 8 hours of community service per year.
- Scholarship covers tuition and fees.
- This is a last dollar scholarship (after all other aid has been applied). No refunds will be issued.
