NCCER CARPENTRY FRAMING & FINISHING- LEVEL 2

This course provides students with intermediate-level knowledge and hands-on skills in residential and commercial carpentry, with an emphasis on framing and finishing applications. The National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) is a nationally recognized organization that develops standardized construction and maintenance curricula and industry-recognized credentials. Topics include construction drawings, roofing, exterior finishing, thermal and moisture protection, cold-formed steel framing, drywall installation and finishing, doors and hardware, suspended ceilings, interior trim, and cabinet installation. Students will develop safe and industry-recognized construction practices while applying appropriate tools, materials, and techniques.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Interpret residential and commercial construction drawings.
  • Apply proper framing techniques using wood and cold-formed steel.
  • Install roofing, siding, insulation, and moisture-protection systems.
  • Install and finish drywall.
  • Install doors, door hardware, windows, and interior trim.
  • Install suspended ceiling systems and cabinetry.
  • Select and properly use carpentry tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Apply industry standards and safe work practices to carpentry operations.
  • Demonstrate the skills necessary to perform framing and finishing tasks in residential and commercial construction environments.

Course Fee: $3,500.00 for an out-of-state student, $1,166.00 for a Virginia resident, and $0 for a student who qualifies for financial assistance.
