The Heavy Equipment Operator Level 2 course, credentialed through the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), builds upon foundational heavy equipment knowledge to prepare students for advanced site work and grading operations. Participants gain a deeper understanding of excavation math, soil characteristics, and blueprint interpretation while developing hands-on proficiency with backhoes, loaders, dozers, and excavators.
Students learn to calculate areas, volumes, and slopes; interpret civil drawings and specifications; and apply safe, efficient operating procedures in realistic jobsite conditions. The course also emphasizes grade setting, soil stabilization, erosion control, and water management—essential components of modern construction site preparation.
