How Do I Get Registered Into My Classes?
It is recommended that you do not self-enroll in classes. To get registered, you can schedule a one-on-one appointment with your academic advisor, visit the Advising office in the ISC building on campus, or log into the Navigate tool inside MyVHCC to map out your schedule. Pop in ISC anytime between 8am and 5pm Monday through Friday - no appointment necessary. You can also talk to an advisor by calling 276-739-2438. Let’s get your classes locked in!
Get Logged In, Signed Up, and Find Your Way Around
You'll spend your time at Virginia Highlands between several different online tools. Let's cover the most important ones to know about.
All of these applications and more are accessed via MyVHCC - an online portal allowing you to sign in once and access the most common applications, including:
- Student Email: Your official college communication lifeline. Check this daily for updates from your instructors and campus departments.
- Canvas: Your online classroom space. This is where you will find your course syllabi, submit assignments, and track your grades.
- Student Information System (SIS) - Your academic and financial command center. Use SIS to view your final grades, check your financial aid status, and manage your student account. Be sure to regularly check your "To-Do List" inside SIS for any required items or holds that need your attention.
- Navigate - Your academic planning tool. Use Navigate to book appointments with your academic advisor, plan your classes semester-by-semester, and track important to-do list items and registration dates.
If you ever run into trouble getting into MyVHCC or the applications within it, reach out to the IT Help Desk.
Stay safe and informed. Sign up for our text and email alert system to receive real-time notifications about weather delays and campus emergencies.
Get your official VHCC ID card. The VHCC ID card can be used at the Testing Center or at local discount locations.
Get prepped for class. Find your required textbooks, digital materials, supplies, and your favorite VHCC Wolf gear. 100% online.
- Academic Calendar & Catalog: Never miss a deadline. Check here for semester start dates, drop/add deadlines, holidays, and graduation requirements.
- Student Handbook: Your campus guide. Review the official college policies, student rights, responsibilities, and campus guidelines.

Financial Matters
Investing in your future shouldn't be stressful. We are here to help you navigate the financial side of college with resources to keep your education affordable.
- Financial Aid: Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to see if you qualify for grants, work-study, or federal aid.
- Keep an eye on your SIS todo list for any important tasks from the Financial Aid office
- Scholarships: Explore institutional and VHCC Foundation scholarships designed to support our students.
- Paying Your Tuition: View current tuition rates, track payment deadlines, or set up a flexible tuition payment plan through the Business Office.

Accessibility Services is located in Room 124 of the Instruction and Student Center (ISC-124) and is charged with:
- Distributing information about the services available for those with disabilities,
- Helping those with disabilities to be successful within the college environment,
- Networking with campus and community resources to promote the personal and educational development of those with disabilities,
- Providing services to allow those with disabilities to successfully transition to transfer institutions or the workforce.

CollegeExpress - Don't let transportation stand in the way of your education. We offer free transit options and local assistance programs to help ensure you can get to and from campus reliably.
The MARC (Moose Academic Resource Center) - Need a hand with math, writing, or science? The MARC, Located in the Library inside the LRC building, provides free face-to-face and virtual tutoring and writing assistance to help you ace your classes.
Excel Program - Excel is a specialized Student Support Services program designed to assist first-generation, income-eligible, or disabled college students. Benefit from dedicated one-on-one mentoring, transfer guidance, and academic tracking.
The Phil Station Food Depot - No student should have to learn on an empty stomach. The Phil Station is VHCC's on-campus food depot, providing free groceries, grab-and-go snacks, and personal hygiene items to any student in need—no questions asked.
Helping Hands Assistance Program - The VHCC Helping Hands Assistance Program is intended to provide short-term, emergency assistance to students who face unexpected expenses that may get in the way of being able to continue and succeed academically/personally while enrolled at Virginia Highlands Community College. The fund is made possible by generous private donations, grants and public investments.
