
When students enroll in the NIMS program, they complete one class that results in all four certifications. Individual certification options are not available at this time.
NIMS Certifications:
- NIMS Materials, Measurements, & Safety: Gain foundational skills for machining, including the study of metals, processes, related equipment and tools of industry. Upon completion, students are eligible to sit for the Measurement, Materials, and Safety credential exam offered by the National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
- NIMS Job Planning, Benchwork, & Layout: Gain foundational skills in machining including job planning, benchwork, and layout. Upon completion, students are eligible to sit for the Job Planning, Benchwork, and Layout credential exam offered by the National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
- NIMS CNC Turning - Level 1: Skills mastered in prerequisite courses are applied to the programming of CNC Turning Centers. The student will learn the operation of the turning machine and its accessories. Upon completion of the course, students will sit for the NIMS Level 1 Turning Operator exam.
- NIMS CNC Milling - Level 1: Learn to safely setup and operate Computer Numeric Control (CNC) milling machines. Upon completion, students are eligible to earn the CNC Mill Operations credential by successfully demonstrating skills and passing the written knowledge test offered by the National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
