Radiography (AAS)

Radiography - Associate of Applied Science

Radiography is the making of radiographs of internal structures of the body. The Radiography pathway provides training in the art and science of radiologic technology to help you succeed as entry-level radiographers. It also provides a sound foundation towards building a rewarding professional career and an opportunity to qualify as a valued member of the healthcare team.

Steps to apply for the Radiography Program

We’re happy to help you along your journey of becoming a radiographer! Following these steps will prepare you for successful application to our program.

Meet with a VHCC Advisor. Your first step is to meet with an academic advisor. The advisor review the Radiography Application Requirement Checklist  and will help you with everything from completing the financial aid process to making sure you have all the tools you need to be well-prepared to take the TEAS.

  1. Apply to Virginia Highlands. Please note, admission to the college is the first of two applications. This first step does not guarantee admittance to our radiography program.

  2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Need help with the FAFSA? We’re happy to walk you through the online application. Visit us in the Campus Connection Center of the ISC building or give us a call at 276-739-2438.

  3. Take the Test for Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). Concerned about the test? Talk with a VHCC academic advisor. We will direct you to the tools to help you prepare.

  4. Submit the Radiography Shadowing/Observation Documentation Form verifying 12 hours of shadowing/observation in a hospital radiology department.

  5. Complete the online Radiography Application. (*March 7th is the early application deadline for priority admission to the radiography program. Applications submitted after this date will be considered according to remaining seats available.)
