Chad Morrison

In 2017, Chad Morrison was injured in an accident and was unable to return to his physically demanding job. He soon had more to worry about than recovering from his injury: he had to figure out how he could continue to provide for his family. Chad decided to visit Virginia Highlands to explore his options for a new career path.

He settled on the Mechatronics program, which combined his love of electrical technology with mechanics. Chad quickly became immersed in his classes and was able to glean practical knowledge from his skilled professors. He also enjoyed having the opportunity to make friends with students of all ages and backgrounds– the other students in Chad’s program were able to learn from him. “It gave me a fresh start, and new purpose as well as new friends,” Chad says of his experience at VHCC.

The college’s Career Services program was able to help Chad obtain a competitive internship with the Washington County Service Authority, where he accepted a full-time position after graduation. While just a couple of years ago his future was looking unclear, today Chad is endlessly grateful for the path that VHCC has put him on.
