Faith had always dreamed of becoming a pediatric nurse– which is why when it came time for her to decide on her next step, Virginia Highlands topped the list. Faith knew that the community feel of VHCC and the highly rated Nursing program would be the perfect place to call home. She enrolled in Virginia Highlands’ Phlebotomy program to gain hands-on experience in the field before beginning Nursing classes.
While Faith was nervous to return to school, her Phlebotomy professor and fellow classmates quickly made her feel at home. “Mrs. Felty and the other students truly made me realize that this was the correct field of work for me,” said Ayers. The 12 week program only deepened her passion for healthcare, and she passed her credentialing exam with flying colors.
Faith currently works as a Phlebotomist at Ballad Health while she pursues her Nursing degree, which she will complete in May of 2024. She is thankful for the caring staff and classmates who have brought her one step closer to her dream career.
