Education

A Southwest Virginia native, Dr. Collins attended high school in Saltville and received a certificate in religious studies from Tomlinson College before enrolling at VHCC. He completed his course work in General Studies at VHCC in Fall 1987 and officially graduated the following Spring. He continued his education at Radford and later earned a doctorate of dental surgery degree from the Medical College of Virginia. He also holds a certificate of advanced pediatric dentistry.

Career

In 1996, Dr. Collins moved to Abingdon to work as a mobile school dentist for Washington County, then opened his private pediatric dental practice in Abingdon two years later.

Awards & Personal Life

When not serving his young patients, Dr. Collins enjoys playing music with his family and working on the family’s Washington County cattle farm. He and his wife, Anna, who is also a graduate of VHCC, have been married for 25 years and have four children. Their two oldest sons, Matthew and David, also attended VHCC.
